Our Day Program

Back to Admissions Overview

Our Day Program in Brief: In addition to its boarding program, St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy has an active day-only course of instruction for young men in grades 6 through 12 who live near the Academy, but prefer not to enroll as boarding cadets. Day cadets are fully eligible to participate in all programs including varsity and junior varsity athletics. The only restriction is that day cadets are not generally considered for the top leadership positions within the Corps of Cadets. The day program is an excellent way for your son to receive a quality education while interacting with students from around the world.

Daily Schedule: During a typical week, a day cadet’s schedule begins with arrival at St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy by 7:00 a.m. The day ends at the completion of after school activities usually around 6:00 p.m. Days are otherwise identical to those of boarding students and are filled with academic instruction, mandatory participation in sporting activities, leadership development and a time for spiritual reflection

Yearly Schedule: Instruction for the full academic year generally begins during the last week of August and finishes the first week of June. During each academic year, the Academy closes for one week during Thanksgiving, for approximately two weeks over the Christmas and New Year holidays, for another two weeks for a spring break, and for a long weekend during Easter.

Transportation: Day cadets may have their parents/guardians arrange for transportation to and from campus or they may participate in a transportation program managed by the Academy.

Costs: The total cost for a day cadet for the 2010-2011 academic year is $12,500. This includes full tuition, lunch, haircuts, insurance, textbooks and computer access. There are also one-time fees for:

Initial Uniforms and Supplies$2,000
Netbook Computer$350

For those interested in participating in the Academy-provided transportation program, there is an additional fee.

There are many payment options available. The Academy’s Enrollment Services can explain each in detail.
