Eligibility Requirements
When evaluating a student's application for admission, we consider some of the following factors:
Motivation to attend the Academy.
Prior academic work, school transcript, and school officials' comments and recommendations.
Results of the cadet entrance examination administered by Enrollment Services.
Prior citizenship and conduct.
Ability to successfully complete a college-preparatory curriculum.
Medical fitness to participate in our academic, athletic and leadership development programs.
Representatives from Enrollment Services, the Academic Office and the Resident Life Office each interview the student and evaluate his application and all related materials. The Enrollment Committee, comprised of the three offices, makes its enrollment decision under the guidance of the Academy president.
Family Responsibility
We want to help each young man develop into a successful leader. It is important for us to be aware of the history of each cadet. This helps us determine whether the SJNMA environment will be a good match. To this end, we expect each family to provide the potential cadet's successes and failures, past behavior, health, and academic information as requested within the application and during interviews. Failure to do so may result in an inadequate assessment of the student's ability to succeed at the Academy.
